About

I graduated from University of Derby with an Integrated Master’s in History. After working full-time as a College Advisor at the university, I successfully applied for a PhD at University of Sheffield. I have been a Postgraduate Member of the Royal Historical Society since February 2022, and have been the Publicity Officer for History Lab, which is the postgraduate branch of the Institute of Historical Research, since September 2023. As of September 2024, I have been one of the Listings Editors for the Royal Studies Journal where I collaborate with colleagues around the world.

I also have experience wokring on projects as a volunteer in the museum and heritage sector, such as developing ideas for exhibitions.

Conferences and Publications

I have spoken in multiple conferences and training sessions about my research, including the following:

  • Social History Society (July 2024): ‘The Rise of Democracy and a Welfar Monarchy: How Social Movement in Late Nineteenth Century England Changed the Nature of the Monarchy’

Social Media Work

As the Publicity Officer for History Lab, I manage the social media accounts and drive publicity for events, calls for papers, our annual conference, and any other relevant opportunities for our followers. Our social media sites include X (Twitter), BlueSky, and Instagram. I also create a monthly newsletter for our subscribers which contains further opportunities and events, including those within the Institute of Historical Research and others up and down the country.

I post regularly on TikTok about my life as a history PhD student. Some of my content includes showcasing old objects I own, discussing snippets of my research, and going to exhibitions. My page is very light-hearted and I am happy to collaborate on TikTok videos.
